The Early Vertebrate Evolution Research-Lab (EVER) aims to shed light into the evolution and diversification of the early vertebrates using a multidisciplinary approach. In this sense, our group tries to answer questions related to the origin and early evolution of several groups of early vertebrates (i.e. non-tetrapod vertebrates), as well as the timing and tempo of the appearance of the different tissues and skeletal structures that identify our lineage. Thus, our research combines traditional palaeontology (systematics, biodiversity and phylogeny) with studies of comparative anatomy and developmental biology in extant organisms. All this is combined with the application of some of the most advanced tomographic and computational techniques applied to the study of the vertebrate fossil record.
